So been playing this game for the last week. Man is this one fun.  A cross between CoD and Serious Sam, with destruction all over.  Sometimes you have to play the sneaky spy type, slienced weapons and strategic cover (although watch cause a lot of cover is destructable too).  Other times is all about Rambo style, where the best weapon you can use is the good old shotgun and mow down enemies, pilling them up high.  So far its a decent story as well, keeping me wanting to play just one more mission to see where it all leads.

And its from the Burnout guys, Criterion Games.

Check it out, PS2 and XBox.

And a little hint if you want:

QuoteEnter any of the BFG codes as your Profile name. After you enter the code and click on Done, you'll be able to re-enter an actual Profile name. This is how you know the code worked. Now, when you start the first level you'll have the BFG weapon. ***These codes only unlock the BFG for the City Streets level***

Freakin' sweet. I remember messin' round with that in Quake 2.

A couple more things about the game that I noticed:

- Unless you write your initials into every enemy you kill it's pretty hard to run out of bullets

- Glass shattering everywhere! Ker-smash!

- Enemies not always in the places you'd expect them (for example while you're making a break for it through a dark forest with about a hundred places the enemy could hide on you they aren't there. They're hiding on the side of the road further up!)

- Good variety of weapons with fun options (like adding a silencer to an automatic, which in real life would probably melt the silencer right off)

- Nifty voice-overs (though there's a whole lot of "You are out of position! ZOMG!!!")

Easy to complete objectives too. Objective of this mission? Complete the main objective. Great.

I expected so much of this game. I downloaded it, fired it up, played an hour, turned it off, turned on my 360, played CoD2.

After being spoiled by the greatness that is 720p and a 360 its hard for me to play the lesser console, the immersion isnt there for me.

See I must be previlaged to not have that problem yet, cause I think this game is one of the most impressive graphics I've seen on the XBox to date.

Yeah you don't have much of an ammo issue until later missions if your careless, or play on higher difficulties.

The Glass thing is over the top, but so are the explosions.  And the silencer is that as well.  They never said the game was supposed to be as realistic as the Socom, Splinter Cell, or CoD games.  It was more to play through without a lot of the frustrations of FPS, which I think it is succeeding on.  Realistic enough to be enjoyable and challenging, but not so much to be frustrating.

Yeah Enemy placements and AI reaction are what I notice the most.  Half the time I'm trying to figure out where that Sniper is, or where that RPG missle came from.  And the fact that the AI jumps for cover when you shoot at them, but not perdictably so all the time, makes it more challenging and fun.

The FMV seems kinda lame at first for the cut scenes, but once you get into the story, it really adds a flavour to the story I find myself enjoying.

Overall I think its worth a play through.  Not as realistic as CoD games, not as crazy as Serious Sam games, but can be intense or suspenseful or both at the same time, which I really like.

I think thats entirely it.  Im depressed at the current lack of titles (March is gonna be uber exciting) and when a good Xbox game comes out i just cant get into it after experiencing CoD2 on a 50" with surround sound and high resolution (i actually caught myself shivering in some of the early USSR missions).

One short term to summarize this game...  Gun-Porn.

If you like guns, shooting things with guns, and/or making things explode, you will like this.

...is this the same title that a demo/video was posted on here a few months ago -- the one where some downtown street fighting resulted in building walls being blown away by bullets/explosives? With wonderful lighting and smoke effects to boot?
