Ok, I've been a Slashdotter for 7 years and the new site redesign makes me want to go back to work, forever.

http://slashdot.org/

So, what's this other site that offers innacurate, amateurish, geek "news", Dig-Dug or somesuch ;)

Time to switch.

The new design really doesnt seem all that different, for the most part the layout has remained the same.

www.digg.com (is what you are looking for)

I really find my self going to /. less these days.. the fresh paint they put over the decrepit old design shows how little things change there.

In accurate news does find it's way onto digg quite often but the reporting system seems to work, as I do see these stories removed and marked  with a warning quite quickly.

I don't like how the comment system on digg is only one two lvls deep.. as it can make comments confusing.

One thing that bugs me about Digg is how often a story links from digg -> blog -> story rather then directly to the story in many cases you gotta consult the comments, because the blog is saturated and died, just to get the link

True, but I have often seen those stories rated as lame and knocked off the front page, and a better version gets dugg in its place.. But you are right it does happing fairly often.

That happens a lot at Slashdot as well (slashdot effect) and many users will use Coral cache (if available).

Slashdot has it's problems, but they are problems I understand and can handle (poor speeling, dupes, pseudo-science and Slashvertisments) Digg seems to have more deep seated problems like "Diggbait" (interesting links that contain bogus info that are worded for skim readers looking for links to Digg), user-driven blacklisting and other more disturbing shenanigans.

Again, I know Slashdot has a lot of problems but the moderation system seems to work pretty good (browse at +2) and dupes are becoming less and less an issue (though a recent story has appeared more than once it is at least been tagged as a dupe.). Slashvertisments are still a problem but they are blindingly obvious when they show up as thinly guised "reviews". Overall the community understands itself and is much less interconnected and territorial (IMHO).
