So it has been a long time since the gamer industry really can toot a new title as a Scary as Hell game.  Silent Hill, Resident Evil, AVP are probably the best known, but are all in sequel releases.

Dead Space is a new one released for XBox and PS two weeks ago and recently for PC.  Critics are claiming it to be one of the best ever to hit stores in it's genre, and the populace doesn't disagree.  Yet why is it seeing such negative user based reviews (yet it scores pretty high with them)?  DRM, as you can only install the game 5 times (despite uninstalls).  But this is another discussion, just wanted to bring it to your attention.

I had a chance to install and try this one out last night.  I must say graphically this game is amazing!!!  Probably better than even Crysis & Far Cry 2 (although I'm not sure the engine Dead Space uses).  The Facial Expressions and Environment Lighting/Textures are fantastic!!!  The voice acting and body language is smooth and fluid.  I haven't seen a cut scene yet as it is all in-game scripted scenes that you can interact with.  Granted I've only played 20 mins to get a feel for it, but was throughly impressed in those first 20 mins.

Worth a check out, maybe a rental, although I hear the console versions have an issue with movement being a bit slow with the controllers, but this can be fixed in the PC version (which is an identical port) with Mouse Speed Adjustments.

When I finish Fable II I am probably trading it in for dead space.

There are FREE prequel animated comic clips on XBox Live for Dead Space that setup the story.
