Are you in Alberta?  Are you on a road policed by the RCMP?  Do you want to avoid that expired registration ticket?  Well, just speed up!

Alberta RCMP's high-speed pursuit policy changed to avoid pursuits for less-serious offences

Betcha they'll be asking for more helicopters, though.
Prayin' for a 20!

They just take you plate number an will catch you down the road some where.

Mr. Analog

I heard this on the radio this morning; stupid stupid stupid.

There is no longer punishment in the City for bad driving (a little inconvenience fee automatically mailed to you from time to time with a free photo) and since thats worked out so well, the powers that be are going to extend that system to the highways where even small errors in judgement have lead to significant loss of life (http://www.cbc.ca/canada/story/2005/05/21/edmonton-bus050521.html http://www.expressnews.ualberta.ca/article.cfm?id=6039 http://news.google.ca/news?q=alberta+highway+deaths&btnG=Search+News etc etc etc).

Sounds great!

I'd much rather have the RCMP ram a dangerous driver off the highway into a wall than let them potentially cause disaster for even a few Kilometres.
