Eh. I lost all interest in it when I finally realized that the "news" it posts is at best days old, and at worst, weeks.

Maybe it has something to do with them rejecting my submissions but accepting the same darn story /days/ later.

Well, they updated the Beta again and... changed virtually nothing.

I don't know if it's the change of ownership or what but they seem hell bent on ripping away any point to going to /.

What a waste.

Doesn't everyone hang out on Reddit now anyway?

Mr. Analog

Pretty much, which is why they are trying to become more Reddit-like I guess

the comments are the only good bits now a days

I never did find their user comments worth it. sometimes maybe, and usually just the +2 and above ones, and then usually only the ones at the top.

Eh I read every day, I think I may just run into more interesting stuff because of it

Have to note that I've not actually used /. in many years. maybe their cesspool of comments has improved. I dunno.

Mr. Analog

And by cesspool you mean efficiently peer moderated so you can avoid crap if you want to?

:P

Well that's why I don't read Reddit LOL

That's funny ;) but reddit has much of the same moderation system. :D

Also like I said, it was YEARS ago. like 8-10+.

Reddit does have the benefit of each sub Reddit having separate moderation from dedicated mod for the Sub.. Which as I have found makes reddit much better when you unsubscribe from many of the defaults and build up a bunch of subs you like. Mods actuall delete and Toll posts

Mr. Analog

And if you get a bad mod it's just as bad as Wikipedia article campers who revert everything they don't like.

I'd rather have things I don't want to see down-modded out of sight but still visible through filter settings than just erased or locked. Then there's the meta-moderation system where moderation itself is moderated.

I wish more sites used /.'s moderation system, some threads that start out as obvious trolls or flamebait can turn into interesting (and educational) conversations.
