Yeah, I'm working towards one.  I'm helping my youngest set up a homebase for a faction on my oldest's server.  It's running on a laptop, though, which means it's not on 24-7, and also if someone trips over the powercord then three hours later the server suddenly disappears - goes to sleep due to low battery, yes, this happened to me tonight and when it came back I came back in the void.  Lost quite a bit of stuff!

That's iLLian's place.  It's supposed to turn into a chess piece.  I don't think he's been on in a while, though, so I don't know if it'll get finished.

It's so big, though...  I was thinking of putting in a neighbourhood, but each lot here is 16 wide, so 10 houses would be 10 whole chunks.  The problem is that I filled in the rooms rather than just leaving the buildings empty - if I'd left them empty instead of furnishing them, I could've made the house smaller and fit the neighbourhood into a smaller area.

Well maybe build the others as non-furnished and leave that one as the show home.

Either that or design a smaller ranch-style house

I'm not one for aesthetic builds normally, but on this server I'm going to give it a shot.  I started making an olde-timey barn to house some livestock, but I blanked out when it came to making a roof.

You're in exactly the right thread   Looks very nice.  As for a roof, barns usually have big rounded roofs so maybe try making the roof with a couple of angles?  For an example, you can look at: http://ronreil.abana.org/barn40.jpg.  I've got a barn, too, with that kind of roof: http://mc.tomasu.org/#/63/64/783/max/0/0 (looks better in-game than on Overviewer).  I used stairs for the more sloped part, slabs for the less sloped part.  Hope that helps, and I look forward to seeing the finished barn
