There are two things that I find surprising about this.

1. When Cadbury found out about it they jumped on the wagon (rather than sue Androids pants off)

2. People (incl. developers) are going nuts for the name but aren't asking questions like "what's in this version of the OS"

You know what's going to happen though, they'll end up like O'Reilly where after a while they ran out of cute/well known animals and had to settle for...



So how many revisions until we get to the "Spinach" or "Durian" release ;-) ?

Google went to nestle before firmly deciding on the name, so I dont think sueing was ever in the cards. I do find it interesting that they pretty much had decided to go along with it within a couple days of the first contact.

And apparently "no money changed hands", i.e. each is taking advantage of cross-branding, without any legal ties so if one effs up the other can claim it is not connected co-liable etc.


Also, Mr. A I was saying names of sweets that are NOT "brand names" (of companies, or of products). Now generate your list. I declare to you that challenge, sir!

I can't even imagine generic-brand Oh! Henry given the names most generic brands end up with...

I also discovered that Canadian Oh! Henry bars use a chocolate alternative (chocolatey) rather than actual chocolate, which for some reason I find slightly depressing.

Going with no brand names and keeping the theme of foods you'd eat for dessert or as a treat:

L - Lollipop

M - Marmalade or Maple Syrup or Marzipan

N - Nougat

O - ??

P - Pastry or Pudding

Q - Quark, because it's used to make cheesecake, but I'm willing to bet no one but me knew that

R - Raspberry Pie

S - Strawberries n' Cream

T - Truffles or Tart

U - Upside-Down Cake

V - Vanilla Pudding

...
