Yay! looking forward to it again :)
I am nervous right now because I have a big project that is going to be coming together mid-August I'm hoping that we can be well on our way to integration in July so I don't have to think about it
Hah, the trick is to not care - I'm sure your teammates will have no problem carrying it to fruition while you're away. They're smart people.

TBH I'm fairly certain that our team will be well ahead of the curve when the time comes
Actually you know, hell yeah, HELL @%ING YEAH, it just twicked in my brain that the one BIG SCARY THING that IS I may have solved by mid-next week and if I don't it means work for a different team

ROFL!
I might get a new GPU, my Radeon 6850 is getting a little old. It's not horrible, but eh. My new-ish FX-8320 should probably be fine for most games.
Got dang I'm so looking forward to Fraga...
Speaking of games I'm gonna try Loadout here soon, runny-shooty-make-your-own-gunsy game!
D3 /cough....
LOL
It owns my life... so much so I might buy it for XBone to play with non-PC friends. So much fun now with latest patch levels. What D3 should have been all along!!!!
And to think it only took 2 years to get the game people really wanted ;) ;)
/cough EA and SimCity /cough
Yeah its like the industry has a learning disability and takes a long time to listen to their customers.
Believe me I know it
Particularly when all the things people complain about when it comes to why server-side enforced DRM is dumb start coming true.
For example, EA is shutting down servers for a lot of multiplayer games (Battlefield 2, Crysis 1 & 2, Medal of Honor: Allied Assault, Neverwinter Nights 1 & 2, and Star Wars: Battlefront 1 & 2, etc). So the people who bought legit copies of these games are stuck without online gameplay yet those who have hacked versions running hacked servers are just fine.
Other than being on the wrong side of copyright law the Pirates win every time.
I bought a new gaming rig today
Core i7, 8 GB RAM, DVD r/w, GTX760
Time to retire my old XP machine with the dodgy power wooh
Nice! I hope you got W7 with it.
I'll continue using my upgraded old machine. I so rarely use my desktop that a full replacement makes no sense. The upgrades didn't make a lot of sense either :( but meh, I got a new motherboard to see if I could get regular boards to work with my LSI controllers, and it turns out, most times, no. So I then had a new AM3+ mobo that is more than capable of running the new FX-8xxx chips, so for the hell of it I also got a FX-8320 to replace my old Phenom II 810.
I'm going to need to do some system testing this time around before frag, so I have a desktop to actually use ::) if I need a new gpu, I'll have to get one.
Yep, Win 7 64 bit, I wouldn't settle for less.
I'm supposed to get my new workstation tomorrow, I may spend part of May Long upgrading it from Win 8.1 to Win 7 ;)
Hahaha. Nice.
I'm tempted to bring my new vm server for frag, but I'm not sure frag needs a vm server. I know I wont really need it.
You could set up host VMs for games
A dedicated TF2 server with a GOOD map rotation would be AWESOME
(no Dust Bowl, 2Fort or Gold Rush just sweet sweet Thunder Mountain and Barn Blitz 24/4)
They typically have a beefy box in the back. Not sure who administers it though.
JOY!
My computer is going to be delivered TODAY TOMORROW

Still, pretty good!

THE DOWNSIDE to all this is I didn't get to sleep until after 4 AM and I'm running on fumes right now. I hope I can find the energy to at least get it set up today so I can play some games tomorrow

FML
I finally got the last piece in for my vm box! the supermicro board \o/ took an extra week :( but its here! and the morons at canpar decided it was a good idea to leave a $500 box on the deck.
If frag is interested in using it, I can bring it. Otherwise meh ;D
I believe we are good for servers for the event, but if you want it for your own use there is the server farm.
I might bring it, not sure.
You should set up Minecraft mutliplayer maps like HyPixel :D

Hehe, that might not be a bad idea. but who knows how much use it'll get.

I changed my power settings and let it run all night BUT Windows Update restarted the machine (augh)
Anyway, one game loaded this morning that owned my old machine, I set it to the "Ultra" settings and my lowest FPS on the benchmark was 44.... It really is like a whole new game!
Also I didn't notice how jittery even Minecraft was before HOLY COW!

I know right? Once you can play minecraft at "Ultra" with >60fps <yogscast>its like a whole new game</yogscast>
The game I benchmarked on was Hitman Absolution which frankly, after seeing it run on modern architecture was amazing and makes me want to play through it again
But yeah, I was surprised, even just on vanilla textures I can see the difference and it's pretty amazing. I'm sure it's just the change in available memory / cpu but still WOW!!

I dunno, I was kinda looking forward to sharing. :(
@%ing hell, I guess seating went live without any kind of notice on the Fraga page now everything near our usual spot is taken by large swathes of reserved seating
I'm at Row 6 Col 17, I hope Tom get get in before it all fills up
Yeah I gave them @% for opening seating without notification. Sorry having issues coordinating the peeps from Hawaii.
Much appreciated
I'm trying to find a Mr Analog, but no findie. nor can i find a col 17 on any of the rows? I tried firefox, chrome and IE. I dunno whats up, but that seating thing has never worked properly :(
Row 5 is the one with "16" on it, I'm 3rd from the left, there's one open spot right next to me
We have had problems with the seating and caches in browsers. Seems to be an issue with the old CSS the seating system is based on.
Good news is that we have a redesigned website in the works and hopefully all these issues disappear with it!
WOOOOOOOH! good
OK. When you said row 6, I assumed you meant the one with a 6 on it :p
I'm on the way to the airport atm but should have access.there.
About the seating thing I used ie on a netbook Thad had never ever accessed the site before.
Ugh. All I could find is some cooky guy named "Jigen" like wtf is that even? I hope he's not /too/ weird. :o
Too weird, that's me
So I got the server working. what kind of shizzle did you want to run? I haven't really thought about it much as I haven't had time :(
maybe put some minecraft challenge, pvp, or story maps?
Mr. A, did you have anything in mind for any prizes or compos?
Let's get some PVP stuff set up
I was thinking Hunger Games
Got spigot and bungee setup now. woo. Works pretty well so far. Only tested with a new world as the lobby. Speaking of the lobby, we need a lobby map ;)
I'm looking into decent games as well.
So both worlds are on the same version now?

So you want to have a different hub world?
Quote from: Mr. Analog on July 29, 2014, 04:06:29 PM
So you want to have a different hub world?
Yeah, so the different game modes can be found from the default "lobby" server.
I've been looking, (but not very hard) and found this: http://www.minecraftforum.net/forums/mapping-and-modding/maps/1549426-minecraft-server-lobby-floating-islands-4-servers
its only good for 4 servers, but its pretty cool.
I say go for it. I'm busy with crunch at work this week so I don't know if I can find the time to build a good world for it
Tried loading it up... not only is the map empty for some reason, but its crashing the server when I fly around.
Bwah bwuh
Found this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zeQX1BeP6lI
which looks decent and works so far. I'll set up the port forward if peeps want to check it out.
Sounds good
Let's get a Race for the Wool map going too
Maybe we can talk about it tonight
I hear Vechs is decommissioning race for wool :o They had a live stream a day or two ago with a bunch of people getting together to play it "one last time".
But yeah, lets talk about it.
Mainly what I'm thinking is either we do a team event or some kind of elimination PVP tournament
I'm also looking into setting up a Mumble server
Maybe some deathmatch as well.
Yup!

I'm really zonked so we'll have to talk about it tomorrow or something.
np I didn't get home until late
I'm trying to work on this a bit tonight, so if anyone wants to yap at me about it, feel free :)
Yeah I want to try it out
I'm going to set up a mumble server as well maybe we can try it out
Not sure yet if I'll have the energy tonight to work on it more... and I still have to decide on the architecture of the thing... go multiverse for some games, or standalone servers that restart...
Well, I'm going to be gone from Saturday to Wednesday so if you want to set up and test before Fraga (recommended!) then we should do it sooner than later
Unless others are willing to help?
This saturday? :o that leaves only tonight :P I'll try and get something working then tonight ;)
I'm playing with a portal plugin which seems to work just fine to portal around maps, and bungeecord servers. So we can teleport between game server lobbies, and theres some minigame plugins I've looked at.
I'm just saying, it's better to make sure stuff is working now than wait until you get there.
There's nothing worse than trying to figure out some problem at Fraga. Been there, done that :)

Yeah, I did that last year.... stupid desktop.
It's working alright so far, can connect to it locally and the proxy forwards you to the default lobby. then I'll setup other servers to handle mini games, and some portals to go between. I also want to setup some server stats signs like "X of Y users" and stuff.
Ok. I'll be online tonight after 8 PM or so if you want some help testing

also depends on how much time I have to work on it. the pvp/creative stuff may take a while...

So I feel like @%, and if I wasn't looking forward to frag so much the past few months, I'd probably cancel...
In any event, the server won't likely be fully ready before tomorrow afternoon. fyi. I first have to work on making sure my desktop is working properly. Then I'll putz with the server tonight/tomorrow-morning.
Expect I'll be working on the minecraft stuff the first day.
Also, I have not had time to go out and get snacks and such for frag... so we might want to either pick some up on the way, or figure something else out.
No worries we can pick stuff up tomorrow on the way
Its all good
Sounds good man.
Just a note: If there is going to be a delay in picking me up... I AM OK WITH THAT!!! lol
