It's basically GTA: Mushroom Kingdom

It's a free roaming world that lets you explore and play minigames and just well, drive. Tracks are all interconnected and in elimination mode you actually drive from area to area.

There's still traditional Kart Tracks too if all you want is racing.

The Switch 2 also upgrades previous games so that they run with higher frame rates and other graphical treats, so you can replay stuff like BotW at a solid 60fps

I would wait for a price drop though $700 is a big chunk of change

Apparently Mario Kart World is supposed to be really good! Want to check that one out myself, but not getting a SW2 this time.

Quote from: Thorin on June 07, 2025, 06:02:48 PMVery cool. Did you have a Switch already?

Our house has also received a Switch 2. My son wanted it for his birthday. He gifted his Switch OLED to his sister, and they're figuring out how to play Mario Kart 8 while at different houses (since she's moved out now).

There's still an original Switch sitting here with Breath of the Wild, waiting for me to finally pick that up and play it. Thing is, I don't know if I ever will, because I keep having other things that need doing or else I'm too tired to do anything but watch a show. :(

BOTW is SO GOOD man I'm thinking about replaying it on my S2

But yeah Mario Kart looks insane, once I get it all set up I'll report on it

Tech Chat / Re: Plex media server is slick

Plex is two pieces:

Plex Media Server - the thing that serves out all the video content

I don't know if you'd want to run Plex Media Server on an old laptop. Those of us running PMS have it running on a desktop or rack-server-like setup that's always on, so that anyone at any time can start watching their shows without having to turn anything on.

PMS, if running on Windows, requires Windows 10 (build 1607) or later.

Plex Clients - the things that you use to view the video content

A lot of us use the Plex app on a Roku (Roku calls apps "Channels"). If you have a Roku Smart TV, you can probably really easily add the Plex "Channel" (app) on it.

If you want to watch your video content on a laptop, there's a Plex app for Windows. The Plex site says it requires Windows 10 or later:

So the question is, do you want to set up a permanently-on computer with PMS installed that can act as the server?
