What plugins do you guys use?

I'm looking for one that can handle AVI playback, discovered some empty folders for avi video clips that Plex no longer catalogues.

AVI is natively supported, if the files don't fall into a tv or movie name standard make a new library for home video and put them there.

The folder is there but Plex shows no files. I'm not alone in this, others have had the same or similar problem since 2015

Generally if a file does not appear it is due to name. If it doesn't play it is due to corruption .

I have divx and xvid avi files in my old Christmas movie collection. They look like ass but they do play and show up.

Thorin

I don't run any extra plugins, just the bare Plex server as downloadable from the site.  I did have a couple of files that didn't show in Plex because it couldn't figure out what they were - I did like Lazy suggested and put them in a separate folder and then created a home video library, and it just showed the bare filenames rather than trying to figure out what show they were.
Prayin' for a 20!

gcc thorin.c -pedantic -o Thorin
compile successful

Mr. Analog

So apparently Plex has some problems with subfolders.

Moved the subfolder out and it matched up

Tom

I think you can tell it to recurse deeply, but can't remember for sure.
<Zapata Prime> I smell Stanley... And he smells good!!!

Plex does work better IME without subfolders.  I converted all my stuff into a 1 folder system to make it easier.

Didn't change the names at all, just moved one folder outside another.

Folder structure matters to the agent a little, it depends if it is a Movie Library or a TV Library.. The guide just highlights the ideal.

When you use sub-folders it might attempt to use the parent folder for name hints. For movies it might assume the folder name is the movie name, for a TV library it might assume it is a season number.. That is all.

Yah, it seems to struggle sometimes depending on what the thing is and how deep it is. I've said it before, I wish they'd open their DB or at least give us some kind of custom mapping ability.

I was reading today that Plex may add a news streaming service:
