...that kind of BS, giving up privacy for "security" (to have neither, as some old white guy once said as he helped found a nation based on liberty or w/e)

Cliffs: apparently the US thinks waving a wand over your body looking for dangerous metals = basically the same thing as going through your cell phone for... bad stuff?

wtf. NotSureIfSerious.png but geez.

Mr. Analog

My vacation plans for this year changed last year from spending a week in Boston to ... not. Mainly because of the increasing amounts of BS going on at the border, particularly with Smartphones

I'd rather go back to London anyway TBH

I feel like the world is becoming more like "Brazil" than "1984"

"Tuttle not Buttle!"

That reminds me, Amazon has a whole new line of designer ducts available!

one comment zeroed in on HOW this BS happened (and why it's important somebody takes a stand and gets some case law update for our modern era)

When these laws were enacted, they were discussing a search of your suitcase and your handbag only. Computers and cell phones did not exist. Back then, it would be like being stopped and them asking for all your personal communication, all your banking records, recordings of all your chats with your friends, all your photographs, and dare I add, all your indiscretions and secrets which might be immoral but not illegal. On top of that, they would ask you for all your photographs and videotapes. Add in all your interests, books read, encyclopedia entries researched, controversial thinking and bad habits.

Now, a single device we hold in our hand consolidates just about everything else about ourselves and our lives: all of the above.
