If I dig a very deep hole, where I go to stop?

We're smack dab in the ocean just southeast of Madagascar... I guess in time of drought we've got options :)

PS: Ain't it nice, Google finally added a "Hybrid" view, so you can use the Satellite appearance but watch for main roads - sweet!

Lazybones

Interesting to check out.

Makes you wonder what would happen if you could just instantly create the hole with some sort of huge lazer..  Would the water come through? Would the core of the earth explode. Would you get a volcano at each end?

Speaking of the "core", in the movie "The Core" (cheesy but enjoyablefungood somehow -- sorta like The Mummy) they had this amazing sound/laser/gun thingie that could do that ... but then the pseudo-speculative-science kicked in at the 20 mile mark I think, so not sure what exactly is that deep under us
