QuoteThe lense that could well result in it being banned because of its perve potential is called the "Infrared See-Through Filter PF". The PF is a special optical device that helps to visually penetrate an object's surface in order to view whatever lies below. The PF makes it possible for you to see images that are normally invisible to the human eye. It sounds like science-fiction but it isn't, this new product has been developed using newly developed advanced optical technology.

Already knew how this worked as a few night shot type camcorders where the first to exibit this special feature.

"X-Ray Glasses" ain't happening, or at least ain't this:

Quote from: "HowThisCritterWorks"Of course, if you were to simply look through the PF, you would not see anything at all. Remember, the PF lets through infrared light only, which is invisible to the human eye. Therefore there must be some media, or device, installed to detect and record, or convert, the image. As mentioned previously, camcorders and digital cameras are suitable devices for this purpose because they employ a CCD which responds to both visible and infrared light.

PS: neato experiments

Most digital cameras have a nice live viewfinder.. The equipment exists: small camera + the filter + LCD warable monitor = X-Ray Specs.. Well not exactly X-ray but good enough..

I am sure the effect has been seen before when developing night vision goggles or something.

-based on the "experiments" page it seems that a low shutter speed is helpful in improving contrast... I can imagine the security industry in various forms might find a "glasses" version of this technology helpful.  :?
