I'm a pretty big French House (Thomas Bangalter!!!) fan myself. I could spend hours just poking around on this site listening to all the techno samples. Whoever put this togeter really seems to love techno and has a good ear for techno variety within genre.



Edit: An example for JPop they used was Megumi Hayashibara's song Breeze. This is a song I know like the back of my hand as it was the opening theme for the anime Slayers Try. The lyrics, when translated into english make no freaking sense but it sure sounds good! It makes me think back on how many anime themes I liked that were really electronic in nature.

Back in the day when I played plenty o' "downloaded" games on my Atari ST (late 80s, peak time for creativity IMHO) I recall a lot of the coolest games had a techno soundtrack; I didn't really know the different subgenres (maybe they didn't exist yet?) but it would be fun to go back in time with the appreciation I now have for this often-derided musical style.

I finally got around to doing some seriously playing around with the Guide.





I'll share with the rest of the class, in the hopes others will do the same:







If I'm in the right mood for it, Tribal Trance, Anthem ("Arena/Stadium Trance")...



And of course Classic Trance.



Most of the time I choose Hard Dance, or most especially bar-none fave, [Happy] Hardcore (esp. "Epic Trance" aka "Uplifting Trance", which apparently is a poor substitute for "Ibiza Trance/Balearic House") ... but none of that "Speedcore" crap :gag:





I do select "Dream Trance/House" if I really *really* have to concentrate on something but want background music (I sheepishly admit I think Robert Miles hooked me years ago from the radio overplaying )





PS: kudos to the dedicated creator(s) of this way cool amazing glad-I-found-it EDM guide, I have now discovered "Futurepop" aka "Futuresynth" -- and I thought I didn't like Industrial!





PPS: "German Trance", now that's a funny genre. Quote: "This is the goofiest, poppiest trance music that exist"
