Probably background downloading now and will popup a upgrade notice the next time I close and open the browser.

I must say the upgrade / patching system has been working great all through the 1.5 to 2.0 releases.

I tried to "Check For Updates" and it said none were available, so i just downloaded the 5MB file :P

I believe the auto update uses a random, or distributed system to ensure that everyone doesn't update all at once. With most releases I have found that I get it before the end of the morning, or at least by the end of the day, which is soon enough for me, most of the time.

Can't wait to see if they fixed some of the memory leaks that have been around since 2002...

And that stinkin Cut and Paste bug that turns up randomly on me still.

Only known memory leaks are from bad extensions.

HOWEVER

The per tab history system intentionally stores a full rendered copy of x previous pages for quick back button rendering.. It doesn't free this memory for quite a while, so if you are a user that opens tones of tabs, FF will still use tones of memory. Or so the devs have written.

I have had this problem as well, it seems to be caused or increased by certain extensions. In particular IE tab.

Here is a maintained list of Problematic Extensions, note that some of them are the most popular extensions.

Umm exactly, you get an efficient reliable browser that doesn't make silly sounds or have unusual appendages that cause drag and slow it down.

The only unusual appendage plugged into my Firefox is me! Hah!

Are you kidding? the embedded spell check is the best :P You can even right click the word and it shows the list of words in the menu.

The spell checker is annoying when we're entering words it doesn't know.  This showed up in the D&D forum for me.  Having the close button on each tab makes lots of sense, but I keep finding myself moving the mouse over to where the close button was in FF 1.5 :P  Also, if you have enough tabs open the close button disappears until the tab is active, requiring you to click twice to close a tab that's not selected when there's a lot of tabs open.  I wish they'd make it work the same no matter how many tabs are open.
