Vandaag was d? dag van Nintendo, de Wii werd vandaag gelaunched. De winkelketen Toys ''R'' Us opende middernacht haar deuren in New York om alle Wii liefhebbers te voorzien van een console. Hier volgt een foto verslag ervan.

Reggie Fils-Aime, ??n van de grote bazen van Nintendo, was bij de launch van de Wii in New York en overhandigde de allereerste Wii.

Today was the day for Nintendo because the Wii was launched.  The toy chain Toys R Us opened its doors at midnight in New York so that all the Wii fans could get a console.  Here's a video journal of the event.

Reggie Fils-Aime, one of the big bosses at Nintendo, was at the Wii launch in New York to hand over the very first Wii.

Buiten in de kou stonden talloze mensen in de rij met als doel die avond een Wii te kopen.
De die-hards staan uiteraard vooraan.

Hundreds of people stood in line outside in the cold, planning to by a Wii that evening.  The diehards were at the front, of course.

Nintendo denkt ook aan alles, ze hebben dicht bij de ingang van Toys ''R'' Us een Wii + een TV neergezet zodat de mensen ook wat beweging hebben.

Sommige namen hun DS mee om zich zelf een paar uur te vermaken.

Nintendo thought of everything, they even had a Wii and a TV set up near the entrance so that people could get some exercise.

Some people took their DS along to keep themselves entertained for a few hours.

Wanneer je eindelijk bij de kassa bent aangekomen kun je uit een aantal accesoires en een aantal games kiezen. De Wii, maar ook Zelda en Red Steel, waren volop verkrijgbaar.

When you finally get to the checkout, you get your pick of several accessories and games.  The Wii was in plentiful supply, as were Zelda and Red Steel.

Tot nu toe is het tot een rustige launch gebleven, hopelijk blijft dat zo.

Nintendo Wii Smash!
Eindelijk was het dan zo ver. De Nintendo Wii is dit weekend in de verkoop gegaan. Ok? niet hier in Nederland maar in Amerika. Wij moeten nog even een kleine drie weken wachten. Net als met de PS3 was het weer uren wachten om het kleine witte doosje te bemachtigen. Onze vrienden waren ook weer van de partij en ditmaal moest na de Xbox360 en de PS3 ook de Wii het ontgelden!

It was finally time.  The Nintendo Wii went on sale this weekend.  Okay, it's not for sale in the Netherlands but it is in North America.  We still have to wait just three small weeks.  Just like with the PS3 launch there was hours of waiting to get the little white box.  Our friends were part of the party again and this time after the Xbox360 and PS3 they had to pay for the Wii!

(that last sentence doesn't make much sense in English, I know.  They're basically saying they can't imagine not getting the Wii after getting the Xbox360 and PS3).
