As a present or future GeekDad, what movies do you want your geeklings to see?

Yes, that's right, I said GeekDad.  Apparently, there's a blog for us.  Anyway, the blogger picked out these:

My kids have only seen The Last Unicorn, The Goonies, and The Princess Bride, as far as I know.  Although I've been asking a certain someone for his copies of the Star Wars Trilogy...

Just looked up Time Bandits on IMDb...  I'm really thinking I'd like to watch that with the kids sometime.  It came out when I was still living in Holland, but by the time it came out there I would've moved to Canada, so I missed it

2001 sounds like an odd choice but when I was 7 I saw it on CBC and it sent me down the path to geekdom...well ok, I had been watching Dr. Who at that age too... explains a lot don't it

I'd also expose my kids to the cream of the crop in terms of Animation that I loved as a kid. Stuff like Animaniacs, Batman: The Animated Series, Spiderman ('67 of course!), Inspector Gadget, He-Man and so many more. Once they got to the tweens I'd let 'em go thru my collection and enjoy some Futurama and Martin Mystery maybe even some Urusei Yatsura, Ranma 1/2 or Sabre Marionette J.

Just looked up Time Bandits on IMDb...  I'm really thinking I'd like to watch that with the kids sometime.  It came out when I was still living in Holland, but by the time it came out there I would've moved to Canada, so I missed it

I LOVE Time Bandits, it is one of only TWO Terry Gilliam movies I don't own (that and The Fischer King).

Oh yeah! I'd expose my kids to Monty Python's Flying Circus, Are You Being Served?, Mr. Bean and later some Bottom and Young Ones

Heh, TRON and Mr. Bean they've seen, Real Genius I think they've seen.  One of the problems is littler kids watching what the bigger kids watch...  Something that might be alright for a thirteen year old may well not be at all acceptable for a nine year old or worse a three year old.  However, as soon as there's more than one child in the house, the younger ones tend to get exposed to stuff at an earlier age than older ones.

The Back To The Future trilogy and Superman 1, 2, and Returns would be on that list for me, as well.

The Matrix is a great movie as well, it has some scary bits but I equate it with a good episode of Dr. Who. The others might be a bit more advanced for the little kids, but by 13 if you haven't seen a "war" movie like Rambo you're missing out! LOL

Freddie vs. Jason I think is also good for early teens, that's the right age to get a thrill out of 'em.
