Those strips are awesome. It makes Family Circus readable!

I also like the experience of Garfield without text bubbles. The effect takes otherwise bland Garfield strips and makes them funny. Vis a vie: BONK!

I also like Realfield and Invisifield. They both make Jon seem INCREDIBLY INSANE.

That Family Circus thing should TOTALLY be a Google gadget or whatever... I'd look forward to seeing the gloomy weather forecast at the same moment as being remind of the pointlessness of life (and the lameness of FC!)

Also, Garfield sans thought-bubbles: BRILLIANCE.


PS: I lucked out and the first 2 randomized frames sorta went together, I locked them until I found a variety of "endings"... It's like a story is being played out (i.e. Jon finally SNAPS!)

**spoiler: money talks, and Jon Davis simply wanted to make money. PEANUTS LEVEL money (because MERCH!).

Jon Davis: who needs funny? Just draw a cat with recurring jokes.

Scott Adams: who needs artistic skills? Just draw funny situations white collar workers can relate to!

After many decades, only one of these guys is still relevant.

If memory serves Jim Davis started the comic in earnest but it's virtual non stop success lead to him distancing himself from it early on.

A lot of artists can resent success particularly if it's something utterly banal  (I know I do) so it wouldn't surprise me.

I kinda feel like Scott Adams has been coasting for a while, some buzzword in the news? There'll be a Dilbert about it 3 weeks later. Then there's his blog which is advertised between comics with clickbait titles and wild egotistical rantings (as all good blogs should have) but with comments disabled on most because he's a giant baby haha
