So, how was everyone's Christmas?

Mine was pretty good for the most part. The party I hosted went well and Christmas with the folks is always good.

Me and the old man are going to take advantage of one of my presents and we're going to watch Butterbean beat some guys into pulpy goo tonight.

Other than some bad road conditions I had a good time visiting my dad and soon to be step sisters.

We ended up with a good inch of snow around my place here... However downtown you would be hard pressed to tell it had snowed.

Missed having the holiday get together with you guys.

We sure missed you and Tam, I can tell you.

I think maybe this summer I might swing down Vancouver way and pay you guys a visit (if possible).

We have a lot of snow, with more falling at the moment, good old Edmonton...

Well after being told to expect just lots of rain for winter I am surprised how much snow is around my place.. I am sure it will melt by next week but some areas got close to 2 inches.

Down town at my office when it was snowing it was strange.. On the 25th floor I could see big fluffy snow, but at street level it would melt and land as rain.

I don't miss the cold, but I do miss things being dry.

My Christmas was excellent!  The kids are all super-happy with their presents, we managed to visit with all the family, and even managed to get out skating on Christmas day.

My son's hockey team had a Pub Night with a silent auction as fundraiser.  The items in the silent auction are all donated by the parents, and whatever they're sold for goes right back to the team.  One of the items in the silent auction was an authentic crested fourth-style Geoff Sanderson Oilers jersey.  These things start around $250.  I'm the only one in my family without an Oilers jersey or t-shirt or sweater because I don't like paying that much money for something anyone else could just pick up in the store.  However, this one is special; it's Geoff Sanderson, who used to play for St. Albert in his youth (St. Albert Royals), who lives in St. Albert, and whose kids play on the same rinks as my kids.

So I told her to go bid on it.  Even if it cost $300, the money's just going straight to my son's team anyway so it's not a waste.  She watched it all night and bid it up to $300, but at the end of the night told me that we didn't get it because someone sniped it for $305 in the last minute.  I was actually pretty upset about that because she'd been gone for nearly an hour "checking" on it, so I thought she'd started chatting with someone and completely forgot to watch it.

Christmas morning I got a present the size of a mandarin orange box.  Yeah, it was a mandarin orange box, but inside was THE AUTOGRAPHED GEOFF SANDERSON JERSEY!!!  Apparently she had about five other parents helping her sneak this thing...  I had seen a $300 charge for Elite Sportswear on the credit card a few days before Christmas and thought she'd just gone and bought me a regular, run-of-the-mill crested jersey.  And I was going to make her take it back, because I really didn't want just a regular jersey...  Turns out my wife is super-sneaky!  Oh, and now when I'm in the stands at the kids' games and one of the parents says, "Nice jersey", I don't know if they were in on the secret or not :P

My poor credit card is comatose from the hammering it received, though :(

Excellent Thorin!

My Christmas was good, and bad. Got a Wii for Christmas with "Mario and Sonic", spent some time with my dad, and got annoyed at every turn by his socially inept (much more so than me or anyone else I know). She just has no common courtesy. Other than being pissed right off most of the time I'm here, Christmas was/is great :)

I saw a photo in the papers, I thought the "Vancouver" description was a misprint... Wow!

You reminded me, I thought I'd ask "the guys" if there is plans for a brief after-work New Years Eve dinner or anything? Like BPs or J&H? If not no big, but I wouldn't mind some non-kids company for an hour after the past 10 days or so ;)
