OK, I'm not sure how many of you have read about the Sega Ad and PETA's request (which may have been valid), but the latest about a Nintendo Cooking Mama game and unfair treatment of animals prior to processing is getting a little out of hand.

And for those of you whom have been apart of an actual cleaning and prepping of a chicken/turkey (from live to cooked) should get quite a laugh out of the PETA flash game here (I know I did!): http://www.peta.org/cooking-mama/index.asp?c=pcmgb08

People. Eat. Tasty. Animals.

PETA is all but a cult and hypocritical.
- Under the core believe system you can not have animals as pets
- One of the high up execs depends on insulin which is derived from animals / animal testing.
- PETA destroys more animals than most human groups, since they don't believe in pets they destroy most animals they liberate from labs.

PETA is essentially a "fundamentalist" extremist-hardcore-believers political group, and like MADD* and others, they started out "well-intentioned", but over time as the executives who run these organizations earned more actual POWER, they became vehicles for pushing (and even legislating) morality instead of just "awareness and education"... so sad, really.

*MADD started out to deal with truly-DRUNK drivers, but never the drinking itself ... however over the years as they got more "political power" and used emotionally-manipulative (and often very statistically-dishonest -- such as if only a PASSENGER in one of the vehicles had ANY alcohol in their bloodstream, then that accident is included in the totals for "alcohol-related injury/deaths", I kid you not!) marketing and promotions, they succeeded in getting laws passed to have the "legal limit" dropping again and again -- no shock since in many of their seminars and internal documents they proudly proclaim their long-term goal to be the elimination of social acceptance of drinking any alcohol at all, they're not just wanting a society free of "drunk" driving, but a society full of teetotalers. Easy to find examples of this on the web, just use your imagination re. what combination of terms to Google.

I can compare PETA to the Churches. Organized religion has done a lot of good, but they got so full of themeselves that they think they not only know what's right for others, they see it as their right to impose it.

This comes in forms of both religious and secular. You let organizations like PETA get their way too much, they'll start becoming full of themselves too.

I like Maddox's approach best:

For every animal they don't eat, I'm eating two.

Did anyone try the flash game?  I just killed myself laughing this morning on how ridiculous it really was!

Cooking Mama rebuttal to PETA: http://ve3d.ign.com/articles/news/43084/Cooking-Mama-Responds-to-PETA

QuoteFood lover and culinary cutie Cooking Mama is a virtual chef who believes that good home cooked food, properly prepared from the best ingredients, can bring people together around the table and make the world a happier place. That's why Mama is taking a stand with oven mitts raised high against the latest PETA objection targeting her freshly released videogame, Cooking Mama World Kitchen, that shipped this week for Wii from Majesco Entertainment Company. Mama wants people to know that World Kitchen includes 51 recipes from around the world, ranging from vegetarian fare like miso soup and rice cakes to international delicacies like ginger pork and octopus dumplings.

"I would never put rat in my Ratatouille," said a feisty Mama while beating some eggs. "Like any accomplished cook, I create my recipes to appeal to a broad range of tastes and preferences. My only goal is to ensure you leave the table well fed."

Cooking Mama World Kitchen includes more than 25 vegetarian-friendly recipes including delicious breakfast, dinner, dessert and snack options. And, while Mama is not a vegetarian, she fully supports the humane treatment of animals, particularly for her canine protege Max who makes his doggie debut in World Kitchen.

PETA are a joke, on par with fanatic religous cults. Infact the best thing they have ever done was to get hot celebs like Eva Mendes naked.

Keep up the good work you asswipes.

I like that reply, it's tasteful and cute!

I tried out the flash game and I have to admit I laughed at it pretty hard. It's pretty ridiculous and that is not the right way to make gravy. :P
Sure, someone put a lot of effort in to that little Flash game it but PETA still comes off looking like ridiculous zealots.

Taking out the innards and stuffing the Turkey is by far the funniest bit.  The amount of blood, intestines and other guts that get spilled.  And I don't know about you guys, but every time we plucked and prepared a chicken/turkey the head was already off the body pretty quick (but that is the farm boy memories of my youth).
