sure they are XKCD subtle-sometimes-LOL-funny but imo they are grumpy-man real-life-application semi-funny... kinda like the "HowCast" series of videos on Youtube, which are rarely hilarious but kinda quirky-funny depending on the subject (e.g. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zSh1JNZkb-g + http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r34zqR1bpmg ).
