So I was wondering what everyone uses (if any) for a password vault to store various logins and passwords or keys needed?

I was looking into using http://keepass.info/, but thought I would ask here... need something free obviously, and would love group security as a feature (multiple logins have data segregation based on group membership).

The only one I've seen was a custom CRM linked to the support system I was working with.

I switched to keepass mainly due to cross platform availability (works best on windows but can be used reasonably well on other plaforms), price and longevity of support.

keepass under windows also works with almost anything due to its keyboard / clipboard functions.

There is also a cool firefox extension that offers deeper integration.

As for Group management, most of the products I have reviewed have false security for the group, IE the database is encrypted with a common key, and the user permissions are just that, software level permissions that in theory can be bypassed as long as you have access to the common key...

http://www.cp-lab.com/index.html is a similar product I have used that includes windows permissions but a common DB key.

Edit: Keepass is the ONLY free one I see commonly trusted by anyone.

There is nothing stopping you from having separate DBs with keepass for different security levels.

And hence the two of the reasons I am still thinking Keepass

I use a keepass database stored in my Dropbox accross windows boxes using the native client and http://keefox.org/ with firefox. On my iphone I use the dropbox app and MiniKeePass (free port of Keepass). Dropbox is not secure however the security of KeePass is the file/db and the strenght of your passsword, so as long as you don't save the password security should be roughly equal between apps.
