So if you follow gaming trends of late you should have heard about the Arma II survival mod DayZ: http://dayzmod.com/

This mod maybe Alpha release but it is turning into the next Left4Dead crazy.  You play in an MMO style world post zombie revolution.  You have water needs. You have a blood count.  And you really have nothing to start with.  Survival is the game and you die, you really die in game. Character gone, restart all over, stuff gone!

The game has many things you see in most FPS/3rd Party View FPS, as well as body damage and breakable limbs.  Inventory, weapons, food, bandages, etc.  other than the zombies, it is going for as much realism and real day tech/items as present day Earth.

What adds to it is the fact that the world is not just for you and/or 3 of your friends (ala L4D).  These servers can have many many players. And here is the kicker... Player vs player is enabled.  So now you can see an element tot the survival gets higher, especially that the inventory items are in high demand. Pack play becomes a major component to survival.  Your friends may save your life or stab you in the back for your fat loot.

So now I'm kicking myself for not buying Arma II when it was on sale last week on Steam!

Also there was a big sale on ARMA II: Combined Operations back during the Steam Summer Sale, now it's $30 again BOOOOOOOOO

I know you can use the "free" version but there are some issues with it apparently (I'm getting that info second hand of course)

?? Operation Arrowhead (aka Combined Operations) came out in 2010!

My personal favourite part was "hide body" and the model just sort of sinks into the ground.

I'd get it if it was $5 but $30 is pushing it.

To paraphrase what an IGN reviewer said about Arma 2 when it came out: it both rules and sucks.
