I don't know what it is lately but man, I feel like I'm about 2 minutes from falling asleep at any moment. At lunch I went for a 15 min nap (set my phone and everything) well I had a quick snooze but then instead of getting up fell asleep for another 45 minutes (oops!)

UGH

I don't normally go for coffee in the afternoon but today I think I need it

In my case, I was awake past 5am, then up at 8am (with several interruptions from people walking through my room to do their hair), then came to the office to meet face-to-face with the boss but he's sick so it was wasted gas and parking fees, then had chicken for lunch from Chicken For Lunch.

Now I'm _really_ groggy.

I think part of it might be the damn noisy birds in the morning, and part might be the bright daystar light until late in the evening.

I went to sleep right after work yesterday and woke up around 3 AM today, I couldn't really get back to sleep so I watched a bunch of cartoons I had queued up, anyway I made pancakes at 5 AM (SO GOOD) and I had planned to come into the office today because I thought it would help get me back into a normal cycle (and also I was up super early and ready to roll) but then I made the mistake of logging into my workstation FIRST and ended up getting busy and there just wasn't enough time for me to haul ass downtown (which is a shame dammit, I would have loved to hit some CFL today!)

Anyway, coffee is working it's magic, I just had a semi-lucid conversation with one of my team members who is also sick, which is now 1 on vacation for a month, 2 sick and 1 sick manager (same as yours)

Also I don't know if it was just because it was 3 AM or what but this new show "Star vs the Forces of Evil" made me really want to play some D&D (I'm not saying that I want to summon a powerful narwhal beam but... it should be a thing)

I totally know what you mean. Much of the time I spend all day fighting narcolepsy. Instead of just being tired, its more like I pass out. I suspect it has partially to do with diet (eating /lots/ of protine helps a fair bit), exercise (exercise helps a little), and medical issues (EDS causes extreme exhaustion, anxiety causes exhaustion, etc).

I went to bed at 9:30pm last night, in a zombie state.  I remember waking up at 4:50am, stayed in bed, and finally got up after 8:30am.  I'm feeling a lot better today.

Tom, sounds like you need to adopt the Mexican tradition of siestas...  You know, since you're gonna fall asleep anyway, might as well have a nap.

I forced myself to stay up last night, I did some artwork and then went to bed, I brewed up some coffee in the afternoon so I'm sure that helped. I slept pretty well last night, though I woke up a bit early. I had a bad panic attack while getting cleaned up this morning, but now I'm so chill it's not even funny, the PLAN was to go into the office today but whatever

In just a few hours I've gone from barely functional to being my normal self, the mind is a strange thing.

Anyway I'm gonna be playing some MINECRAFT tonight and maybe try and finish off GTA V (turns out I'm not all that far off the story mode ending)

Sometimes I do. but that generally leads to shifting sleep schedules. I have little self control when it comes to getting up. lol.

Set a LOUD timer for 20 minutes from when you shut your eyes, giving yourself maybe 5 minutes to completely conk out, that should be very helpful. Apparently for most people that can be a real energy boost, but also once you hit the 25+ minute mark you're likely to sink into DEEP sleep that if woken up in the middle of creates the super-groggy crappy feeling for hours. Hence the 15-20 minutes.

I used to do this, taking a nap in my car during lunch, a couple years ago, and it did wonders for getting through days when I was getting all narcoleptic by 2pm (on a serious caffeine high-and-low cycle at the time).

Also being physically active can jolt you out of your grogginess instead of a nap -- on that note I keep meaning to use 7 minutes in my lunchtime (since now I have a door that can close!) for the "7 minute workout", I have an app and everything! #NoExcuses #ReminderToSelf

Physical activity works for me the best.

Sadly yesterday I went for a 15 minute nap at lunch, woke up to my alarm and stayed put (and slept for another 45 minutes)

That's when I brewed the coffee haha

Who needs a gym!?

Buncha tips for intense but brief workouts at home... no equipment needed.

I've been up late at night unable to sleep because I can't stop the thoughts in my head.  Mostly to do with how my oldest child has been acting the last several months.  This is one part of being a parent that absolutely sucks.

It'll probably be another restless night tossing and turning - he decided recently to move out, but he didn't tell us, so he was slowly moving stuff out when we weren't home.  We figured it out today, so I fast-tracked his move.  And I explained what a @%&#ty thing it is to sneak move out, instead of being forthright about it.

The real slap in the face is that he's willing to pay his girlfriend's mom $600 a month for a single room (bathroom and kitchen are shared, it's not a separate apartment), and that he considers that better than living at home for free.  And I'm sure he's gonna have to do more cleaning there than here.

And there's always something to laugh about.  In this case, he claims this is better because now he's in a proper landlord-tenant situation.  But think about it, it's his girlfriend's mom and he's only renting a space (so no private entrance, kitchen, bathroom, or even hallway - they'd see each other all the time).  What happens if he breaks up with his girlfriend, especially if it's another nasty break-up?  He'd be out on his ass toot-sweet.  Hmm, I wonder if they've even signed a rental agreement.  I doubt it, he's not one for doing paperwork.

Less than two weeks ago, he borrowed money for car repairs from me.  I made sure to make up an agreement and have both of us sign it on how it will get paid back.  He says he'll pay it back, but I'm kinda good with numbers and I doubt he'll have the cash.  I'm basing my budget over the summer on him not paying it, if he does, I'll have beer money for camping.

Anyway, thanks for reading my venting (if you got this far).  Maybe writing it down will help get it out of mind.  Or maybe I'll be online at 3:30am checking to see if there are any new posts from Tom.
